Post Doctoral Research Fellow – University of the West of Scotland

The Contemporary Drug & Alcohol Studies (CDAS) programme at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is currently accepting applications for a Research Fellow to work on a Chief Scientist Office (CSO) funded study ‘Using foil for drug administration: exploring the views and experience of people who use drugs’. The project is led by Dr Karen Dunleavy and Dr Aileen O’Gorman. 

The ideal candidate will have an expertise in qualitative research and substance use, an interest in harm reduction and research with people who inject/use drugs. The Research Fellow will be expected to: 

  • Recruit participants and conduct audio-taped qualitative interviews with people who use drugs
  • Enter data into NVivo, code and analyse qualitative data, develop framework matrices, write up analytic reports
  • Liaise with injecting equipment providers and drug treatment services (including homeless outreach) to access and conduct interviews
