Overdose Prevention in Scotland: what can we learn from British Columbia?
Prof. Bernie Pauly and Dr Bruce Wallace from the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research delivered an an interactive workshop for 100 Scottish delegates in Dundee on Tue. 14th May 2019. The event was jointly organised by DRNS, Scottish Drugs Forum and Dundee City Council. The workshop aimed to: share evidence and learning on the prevention of drug-related deaths in British Columbia; explore how these approaches could be adapted to the Scottish context; and support networking between Scottish delegates and our Canadian colleagues.
We are grateful to everyone who took part in the event. We will publish an event report, presentations and video from the event in due course. In the meantime, here is an example of media coverage of the event and the issues raised. This video is an excerpt from STV’s evening news featuring interviews with Bernie Pauly, Bruce Wallace, Dave Liddell (Scottish Drugs Forum) and John Budd (GP, NHS Lothian).
